From the first shutter click, Phillip was hooked. 250,000 exposures and 70 countries later, we find ourselves here.

Phillip Silverstein is an internationally collected and renowned photographer whose specialty is anything but the norm. Having traveled across the world many times, his work has taken him to places he never could have dreamed of. Originally from a small town in South Carolina and a prior athlete, Phillip found his new passion in photography at the age of 24 and has not put down the camera since. His football days took him to Milan, where he fell in love with Europe and developed a taste for travel. Afterward, moving to San Diego where he first picked up a camera just before a trip to Patagonia.

This trip changed everything for him as he came back with 5000 images and the technical knowledge of working a camera, but more importantly, an infinite desire to get out and explore the world. An office job and wearing a suit everyday wasn’t going to cut it anymore. He wasn’t sure what the future held, but he knew it would be exciting. His work took him to Los Angeles where he lived up until the beginning of 2021 where he sold and packed his belongings, and took off for sunny St. Barths.
Now, Phillip spends his time living out of a couple of suitcases, in between Marrakech, New York, and Europe when not on the road.

Producing “organic” imagery, and capturing the beauty of the world without a script. His work is serendipitous, often planning only a day or two, or sometimes even hours to be in a specific location and hoping for the weather to cooperate… this is part of the magic. His work often leaves the viewer in a grateful, yet, motivated to explore state. In his time behind the lens he has been commissioned to shoot for tourism boards, nonprofits and NGOs, celebrities, and some of the biggest brands in hospitality to create beautiful images.

“Rare Light in the Persistence of Memory” as he calls it, highlights the often overlooked beauty that surrounds us every day in our chaotic yet spectacular existence. Most people move monotonously through life, some searching for something, most unfortunately, wasting away.

Phillip measures life in moments, drawing attention to how special presence can be and capturing those special moments that don’t come twice.

His work has fueled him to traverse the globe in search of these little miracles, taking in each moment, seeing life in frames, and stumbling upon unique vantage points to capture. Each single exposure photo that he immortalizes is “photoshop and alteration free” which is an important point to make especially in today’s time when it’s difficult to tell the difference between real vs fake, and especially when his message is about appreciating and conserving the true beauty of our world.

His series, ETERNA, ARTITECTURE, VIDA, NO TRESPASSING, FIAT LUX, SPLENDIDO, SAKURA, and TESTAMENT, all tell different tales with the same underlying theme; highlighting the beauty around us, showing the world what inspires him. From untouched, timeless, pure nature, to the heroism and great achievements of man… and from those specially captured, once in a lifetime moments that won’t come again, to the ideology of human restraint through fear, pushing the boundaries of legality to new heights to capture never before seen angles of life.

His work has opened doors he never could have imagined; from incredible heights on top of skyscrapers in Hong Kong or hanging out of a helicopter over Central Park- to incredible lows, sleeping in a Parisian jail, or being detained in Morocco, both for taking photos.

His work has been featured in newspapers and major publications, on the cover of magazines, and hangs on walls in incredible collections in different countries. Through it all, Phillip always carries a smile, perpetually in search of the next scene thats calling him to capture.
